Viên sỏi thận lớn hơn một quả bóng chày

Viên sỏi thận khổng lồ đã được lấy ra từ một bệnh nhân ở Sri Lanka.

Các bác sĩ quân y Sri Lanka đã lập kỷ lục Guinness thế giới sau khi loại bỏ viên sỏi thận lớn nhất và nặng nhất thế giới cho một người lính đã nghỉ hưu 62 tuổi.

Viên sỏi được lấy ra từ cựu trung sĩ Canistus Coonge nặng 801 gram, gấp hơn năm lần trọng lượng của một quả thận nam trung bình. Ca phẫu thuật được thực hiện bởi một nhóm các học viên y tế cao cấp, bao gồm Chuyên gia tư vấn tiết niệu, Tiến sĩ K. Sutharshan, Trưởng Đơn vị Tiết niệu Genito tại Bệnh viện Quân đội Colombo.

Sỏi thận của Coonge dài 13,37 cm, so với một quả thận trung bình dài khoảng 10 đến 12 cm.

Theo kỷ lục Guinness thế giới hiện có, sỏi thận lớn nhất thế giới khoảng 13cm được tìm thấy ở Ấn Độ vào năm 2004, trong khi sỏi thận nặng nhất nặng 620 gram được báo cáo ở Pakistan vào năm 2008.

"Việc loại bỏ sỏi thận lớn nhất và nặng nhất thế giới thông qua một cuộc phẫu thuật lớn xảy ra vào ngày 1/6 tại Bệnh viện Quân đội Colombo", bác sĩ quân y Colombo cho biết.

Cựu trung sĩ Coonge nói với đài truyền hình Swarnavahini địa phương rằng anh bị đau bụng từ năm 2020 và thuốc uống không giúp ích gì. "Tôi được yêu cầu phẫu thuật sau khi chụp chiếu gần đây", ông nói. "Bây giờ tôi cảm thấy bình thường rồi."
